A new tile based game of discovery set in outer space
Overview
(2-4 Players) (Ages 8+) (45 mins)
Nth Vector is a board game in which players collectively build a map of the galaxy with planets, stars and other space phenomena, then compete to gather the most data points from these locations. Players build routes in a game of interwoven trajectories and obstacles.
Feel of the game
Nth Vector will have you planning several turns in advance in order to create high scores. That said, the game also tests your nerve as knowing when to 'cash in' to score points is a big part of the game. A single tile can dramatically change the state of the board and with your opponents vying for the same points it's as much about tactics as it is strategy. This game is ideal for competitive board gamers who enjoy puzzly, abstract games!
How to Play
You take turns playing 1 tile from your hand onto the board. Together, you construct the map of the galaxy...
The goal
The plan is to launch probes from the edge of the board along a given trajectory. Each probe allows you to collect tiles along its path, scoring data points for every tile.
Stations
A probe is launched when you play a station tile. With only 3 stations per player, you need to decide when to play them to score points.
Plan your routes
High scores are created by learning how to build effective routes. With tiles for redirecting & blocking probes, your aim is to extend your own routes whilst limiting the routes of other players.
Arrows
Arrows denote tiles that can redirect probes in a new direction.
Data Points
Many features are surrounded by 1, 2 or 3 solid dots. Each dot represents 1 data point when the tile is collected from the board.
Data Corruption
Some tiles award negative points as denoted by the hollow dots, which you can use to deter or sabotage other players.
Rings
The number of rings surrounding each feature denotes whether the tile can block probes or not. With 1 ring probes can pass through, with more than 1 ring the probe is blocked!
Controlling the board
You may stack tiles you've already played to adapt routes and surprise other players. You cannot stack tiles that were played by other players.
Thinking in 3 dimensions
Probes collect the top tile as they pass a stack, revealing the tile underneath. Allowing for potentially mind bending routes which can double back and redirect in unpredictable ways. Make it as crazy as you dare!
Stealing Data
All planets match the colour of the player who placed them, and can only be collected by that player. All other space phenomena are colourless and can be collected by anyone, no matter who placed them. Try to incorporate colourless tiles into your own routes and collect them before your opponents do.
End Game
Once all players have played their stations, the game is over. The player who's collected the most data points wins.
Funding Campaign
We are a small team of people who are dedicated to making great board games, but we're not an established publisher and so we need your support. We have thoroughly playtested the game ourselves and are now trialling prototypes amongst the local gaming community.
If this project sparks your interest, then sign up to our mailing list and share this page with your friends and family. Once our funding page goes live you will have the opportunity to help fund our first print run and receive your own copy of the game. In the meantime we will continue to keep you informed on our progress.
Launching Soon
This is your opportunity to make this game a reality. Subscribe to our mailing list and we will notify you when the funding campaign launches.
